In my 20+ years of programming, I’ve never seen anything more idiotic than you adding default behavior to the site to email users when anything in their profile changes. What if we want to change their emails as admin for a good reason? Like a death in the family.

Oops, auto email and then emails go out to people we don’t don’t don’t want to send emails too. So we go and dig and fix. Then auto upgrade! Then you overwrite the hook! More panicking users! How incredibly short sighted and stupid. Dumb Dumb Dumb.

Where did that happen, meaning what menu? I’ve updated user profiles in my WordPress installation and I’ve not seen that happen.

buckhillbilly, most users are not supposed to be admin, then receiving update emails. I’ve done a dozens of WP setups and no one receive update emails but me.

In WordPress 4.3, when the email address or password for an account is changed, then an email is sent to the address informing the user of the change. This is for security reasons, because if the user did not initiate the change or does not want such a change to occur, then they need to be notified so they can take immediate action to fix the problem.
