Unable to move / migrate site
-
Hi there,
For the past two days I’ve been trying to export / duplicate my wordpress website through Filezilla so I could host it on my school hosting. However, after trying quite a few things, I’m still unable to do so.
Is there anyone who could either tell me what’s wrong, or point me towards a method that would work in my case?Current situation:
Hosting a site on localhost (WAMP) and a DB on localhost/phpmyadmin
Trying to host it on my schools host (iris.fhict.nl).What I’ve tried:
Manual
– Copying the wordpress folder to the right directory (through Filezilla)
– Exporting the localhost DB and importing it in the hosting DB
– Editting the wp-config.php to the database
– Editting the WordPress/Siteadres URLS under ‘Settings>General’
– This seems to work until I go to the hosted website, at which point WordPress thinks I want a fresh install (when followed through it also gives an empty wordpress: http://i298619.iris.fhict.nl/QuizVeldhoven/ ).Duplicator Plugin
– I create an installer.php + archive, place it in a directory with writing rights and run it.
– This seems to work all correctly just as the manual option: the DB is filled correctly but when going to the site WordPress tries to get me to install a fresh WordPress. The DB is filled correctly though..I’ve also tried several Google solutions like manually editting the SQL file to UTF8 in the database.sql through the Duplicator method, to no avail.
In short I’m looking for the simplest way to directly copy my complete WordPress from localhost to an online host. What am I doing wrong or how could I do this?
Thanks a LOT!
