And what’s even weirder is that I haven’t installed the statcounter plugin on this wordpress installation, which is located in a sub-folder on this domain’s server. Statcounter is installed in the now-existing site, but not on the wordpress site.
They worked before? If not, it could be the result of where you have your development test site located (in a sub directory of your main site). Double check your permalinks too, but I think it’s where you have your site installed. The part that brings me to that conclusion is the last URL part of the error where it’s just your main domain part.You may need to follow up with your host on this one, or move your development site to a sub domain level.

I’ve put in a trouble ticket with the hosting company, but they were the ones who installed WordPress for me in that subdirectory after I had trouble doing so through their one-click Softaculous utility.
One thing that seems funny to me…when I view the home page of the wordpress site logged in as the admin, there’s a link that says, “Edit this POST” – I’ve never seen that before. And it’s not a post, it’s a page.

Thanks for mentioning the Permalinks settings. I’d set them to “Post name”, and I think they were working earlier. Something must have glitched out, because I just went in and changed them back to Default, then back to Post name, and now they’re working.
It still says “Edit this post” under the page title. My other sites, when I’m logged in, there’s just a little button that says “Edit”, so maybe it’s just a difference in terminology between 4.3 and earlier versions.
I never did like that kind of feature many hosts have, it creates problems for many. As for “Edit this Post”, this is something the theme has. When you are logged in as an admin and visit the front of your site, it opens that post immediately into the post editor. This edit link only shows for admin’s, but not for the typical visitor. Each theme can have it say something different…edit, edit this post, etc.
However, the theme does have a setting to disable that.
Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Blog Options, and then look for “Show Edit Link”. Uncheck that box next to it and save.
