Hide Username from Posts and Author Page
-
I’ve recently experienced several attempts to log into my wordpress account, all of which have gladly been blocked by my security features.
I therefore thought I would create a new user account with a random username (Say ‘Jamie5469146’) but then set the ‘Display name publicly as’ to ‘Jamie’. In this way I thought hackers would not be able to identify my username from the ‘Author’ of my blog posts and would therefore be unable to attempt logging in.
Sadly, whilst this disguises my username on posts, simply clicking on my author name takes me to the following page, clearly identifying my username:
/author/Jamie5469146/
Does anyone know of a way to disguise a username altogether. I know that my existing security is protecting me but it seems logical that having a complex password AND username will eliminate attempted logins.
