    Hello,
    I am in the process of configuring this theme as my site for featuring my artworks and was wonder if someone could tell me what the recommended default image settings should be. Currently WP has it set to the following and it just doesn’t fit the layout of this theme.

    Thumbnail size: 250 x 250 pixels
    Medium size: 500 x 500 pixels
    Large size: 1100 x 1024 pixels

    I would like to know before I start uploading images to my site. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Joan

    Hi Joan…I thought I would help you out here before I call it a night.

    For image sizes in relation to the blog posts, you can have almost any size you want. For example, the live demo site for Seasonal will show the first blog post with a featured image that is 940 x 575. If you plan on accommodating people who will maximize their browser window on large screens, such as 2560px or 1920px, you can go as large as 1600px. For height, you have more flexibility here.

    This theme is responsive, so if you had any images that were larger than the area they are going into, they will downsize to adapt to the space.

    I generally recommend to make sure they are good quality images to begin with. Also, remember that images will “not” resize to be bigger, but they will downsize to fit an area that is smaller than the image.

    As a side note, your posting of image sizes for a Thumbnail, Medium, and Large, gives me an idea to write an article for my blog. It will relate to setting media sizes under Settings in your WordPress; or rather, why I never set those and always make each one as 0. This allows me to have full control over cropping and sizing the images as I need them.

    In a nutshell, every time you upload an image, WP will generate extra versions of it based on the sizes you set…even if you never plan to use them.

    Aside from all of that, was there a particular part of the theme that you wanted to get suggested sizes for?

    Hello, Andre:
    Firstly, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on creating one of the best themes I have ever personally come across (and I’ve seen many). I love Seasonal simplicity, overall layout and white space. The clean look and feel is perfectly designed. Props to you!

    I am a small business owner in Canada, just starting out and will be looking for a quality theme for my dot CA site in the near future. I now know whose PRO services I will be using for that. 🙂

    Secondly, thank you for your prompt response to my earlier inquiry. Going through a few of the threads relating to your themes I observed that you are very good at doing that. You provided me the exact answer I needed to resolve my earlier issue. Thank you! (EXCELLENT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE RECORD)

    Finally, if I may impose on your valuable time for a second time, I think I pretty much have the configuration of the theme down pat, but I am stuck as to why my sidebar as well as the menu on the side bar does not scroll down for me to see the drop-down menu.

    Here is the link to my HOME page: http://www.joan-a-brown.com/

    I have “Tile vertically”, “center” ” “scroll” and “cover” selected.

    Also I am not able to change the default font family. It always comes back as “Georgia” after several attempts with different fonts in my WP custom edit CSS editor. I want to use a slightly smaller, less scriptic font. The default font does not display my person name very accurately. The ‘J’ resembles an ‘F’ and I don’t like that:

    Example:
    .site-title {
    font-family: ‘Noto Serif’, serif;
    }

    Sorry for going on, but just wanted to be as detailed as possible…Thanks again for any help you provide…

    First, I also would like to say thank your comments…and the review/rating you gave me. Quick note, I am also a fellow Canadian!

    To follow up with your added question(s) and to begin with the sidebar, I’m not quite sure I understand what you are referring to with the sidebar and menu not scrolling down to see the drop down menu? The sidebar container is a fixed position overall and does not scroll.

    For the Site Title, by default it’s set with the Google Font “Playfair Display”, or Georgia if that is not available. If the font you want to use is not changing your site title, then you will want to make sure that the font is loading by however means you are doing it. Are you wanting to use “Noto Serif” as your font?

    For fonts, you want to make sure this is loading, either from your functions file with an enqueue method or by a plugin that loads fonts. I looked at your source code for the .site-title, but did not see your own font.

    I knew it!!! Another Canadian! That “nice” tone in your correspondence was a dead giveaway! 🙂

    Again thank you for responding so quickly. I must admit I don’t quite get all this “techie” stuff, but I am managing to make do with what I am able to figure out. I am still not happy with the end results of the sidebar and menu and getting it to do what I want it to do, but it will have to do for now, until I am able to get it all done professionally.

    Thank you for your efforts, Andre and please continue to make great design for people like me who truly appreciate your talents.

    Have a joy-filled day!

    A fellow Canook:)
