• First, a bit of relevant history. I installed v.2 in 12/06 just to learn something about how blogs work. I changed the header, linked to my website, wrote a few posts, and installed on both a local and remote server.

Now, I’m about ready to begin blogging in earnest so I decided to upgrade to the latest version 2.3.1 and, after some confusion on my part, I have successfully installed locally, but I’m right back were I was as a new user and don’t know how to import my changes to the previous version of WP. In fact, I can’t seem to find where I might confirm that I’m actually using the current release. Are either of these things possible or do i start (re) building from the ground up?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Current version is displayed at the bottom of every admininstration panel. It is also in the wp-includes/version.php file.

If you have two copies of WordPress, I would recommend making sure both copies are the same version. Then you could use the Export and Import process between the two blogs.
