Media library vanished

    I am using theme twenty fourteen.
    I have placed and used 2 images in the library but when media library is opened no images are seen. I have used the images for background and they work well I have just added 4 more, they are seen being added but when media library is opened they are not there.
    Am I doing something incorrectly.
