With the update to 4.3, the plugin I’ve been using for years to disable WP from stripping empty p & br tags is no longer working. While I can certainly add the html in the text editor, clients just want to be able to hit the return more than once and have the spacing they intend preserved.

I’ve seen some plugins that claim to do this, but they seem really heavy, and full of other features that might be confusing for my clients. Can anyone point me toward another client that preserves the empty p & br tags?

Or toward a code snippet that will disable wpautop?

Okay, I’m not sure what’s going on, but now WP seems to be retaining the br tags & empty p tags….

Do the changes to wpautop in 4.3 mean that I don’t need a plugin to do this anymore…?

I’m also having problems with this (after upgrading to 4.3). I also used a plugin to keep b/br tags in the posts text, but now it’s a mess, because (it seems) the new editor has its own wpautop “intelligence” (in javascript)…

    Editor changes in WordPress 4.3

My experience is that if a load an existing post (with P BR tags inside) in the textual (HTML) editor, the tags are still there, but once I switch to the visual editor, and then go back to HTML, all the tags are gone. This is a nightmare.

This sucks…posting to track in case someone discovers a new method for disabling wpautop.
