To clarify my question above. The length of my featured recent posts is not consistent on the home page.
This is causing the “Read More” buttons to be mis-aligned due to the varied length of the post.
How do I force the length of the posts that are appearing on the Home Page to be consistent?

You can try using a crafted excerpt instead of the auto generated excerpt. Using crafted excerpt, you can enter the same amount of text for excerpt for every post.
In your WordPress admin -> Edit Post Look for the metabox named Excerpt

I don’t see the Excerpt option. I do have the latest version of Evolve. Any other suggestions?
I have searched this forum and see some other suggestions. Just don’t know which one to go with.
The one I tried earlier instructed me to update functions.php. It crashed my site.
I hope I don’t embarrass myself by asking…where do I find WordPress admin, and then the metabox? Thank you.

I don’t see the Excerpt choice either. Admin is your Dashboard. I expected to to see Excerpt Metabox when I chose to edit a post. I’m thinking it needs to be “crafted” for each post as you create one.

Found the answer in the above link. You need to click on Screen Options at the top right when in Edit Post Mode. There you will see “Excerpt”. Check the box. Now you will see an Excerpt metabox beneath the area where you edit the post.
Enter you excerpt works there.
