We’re using NextGen on our website but recently our site was either a blank white page or a blank dashboard we I logged into the site through admin. We double checked all the plugins by turning them off and then turning them on one at a time. We discovered NextGen was having conflict issues with multiple plugins. Please help.

@sviernum – Thanks for taking the time to do some troubleshooting to see there are conflicts with other plugins … did you also try deactivating *all* plugins then starting with NextGEN Gallery first?

What sort of results did you have with that process?

My sites are having the same issue. They go blank when updating the NextGen plugins. It’s directly caused by the NextGen plugin. You need to develop a patch. We shouldn’t have to switch to a different WordPress theme to make it work.

    Cais,

    Here’s what we did:
    1. Disabled all plugins
    2. Enabled NextGen and it worked normally
    3. Went through the plugin list, reactivating plugins
    4. Found a plugin that conflicted; deactivated NextGen and that resolved the problem.
    5. Disabled conflicting plugin and reactivated NextGen
    5. Continued reactivating plugins until a second plugin was activated that caused the problem
    6. Deactivated NextGen and the problem was resolved
    7. Reactivated all Plugins, except NextGen, and everything worked normally
    8. Gave up on NextGen

This is the same issue I have had, and I agree with @sviernum. If a plugin is so temperamental and doesn’t play well with others then it can’t be used.

I think it’s a conflict with jQuery, and seems to crash if there are other plugins or jQuery script. Until this is resolved NextGEN is unusable.

I had to resort to removing NextGEN from FTP level after the blank screen both front end and back end Dashboard was “white screen”. And now, having not been able to properly “uninstall plugin and remove all data & files” within WordPress dashboard there is STILL left over script that is causing problems with the site functionality!

Is there an easy way to identify the leftover script that is causing conflict and how I can remove it ?? Can Support provide details of what code and script is written with installation of the PLugin, and I will try to work backwards and remove it??

This is Urgent on a live site. Thanks

@sviernum – Thanks for the troubleshooting … its not common to have more than one plugin causing conflicts with NextGEN Gallery but it does happen on occasion.

I do hope you reported your finding to the other plugin authors as well …

    Thanks!

So there’s nothing you can do or suggest to get the NextGen plugin to work?

    (@photocrati)

@sviernum – As you noted previously, you found plugins that are causing NextGEN Gallery to not work correctly; have you contacted those authors with these details?

    – Cais.

PS: You have not noted which specific plugins you were having conflicts with so there is not much we can suggest without those details ourselves.

We finally figured out that it was only one plugin. JetPack by WordPress seems to be causing the trouble. Not sure why it’s causing such a strange conflict with NextGen though.

@sviernum – Thanks for the update. Jetpack in and of itself does not generally create conflicts with NextGEN Gallery but it is possible some specific combination of settings from within Jetpack could.

I’m not sure what exactly was triggering the problem, but we decided to just uninstall Jetpack and use other plugins for the features we needed. Everything seems to be doing fine now.
