• Hi. I’ve been trying for hours to get just a few videos on my website… I keep running into issues. I own a vintage jewelry website, and I have a few videos of items spinning on a turntable. I want these videos on my product pages… Here’s the problem.

I tried uploading them directly into WordPress. For some reason, the videos sometimes don’t work. They can stop half way through. They sometimes don’t load. They also take up server space.

So I decided to make a Youtube account and put my videos there so that I could just embed them onto my site. However, after adding about 30 videos to my site I am getting super slow loading times. I became suspicious of this and ran a speed test on pingdom.com. It shot all of these cast_sender.js errors at me and they seem to be coming from all the youtube videos.

So here’s my question… Is it possible to add videos to a WordPress website such that they are consistently working and do not slow down my website.

I am really at a cross roads here because the WordPress player seems to just not work sometimes, and youtube throws little snippets into my site that slow it down.

I could really use some help here.

Also, my video files are only about 10 seconds long and under about 2MB each, so these aren’t massive file sizes or anything outrageous.

I haven’t had any real issues when working with Youtube – how are you embedding them?

If you are uploading files to your own server and are running into issues, you might want to contact your ISP. Alternatively, have you tried uploading via FTP?

I have uploaded my videos to youtube and then embedded them using the iframe tag.

    For example:
    <iframe width=”600″ height=”338″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/fLZ87B91MRo?rel=0&#8243; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

The problem is that doing this creates cast_sender.js errors on any page that has youtube content.

I am considering just using the videos that I already have on my server, but I am using a Godaddy Economy hosting plan. I am sure that they limit the amount of times my videos can be watched, so I would much rather have them hosted elsewhere if possible. I would love to use Youtube, but I can’t have this cast_sender.js error showing up all over the place.

Thank you for replying so promptly, it’s appreciated.

The iframe really isn’t necessary for your solution. You can simply paste the YouTube link directly onto your post/page – WordPress can handle the rest. That might speed things up for you and avoiding the cast_sender.js errors.

Here’s the support information about YouTube from WordPress.com – I’ve found it’s applicable for the self-hosted platforms as well.

If you are worried about bandwidth, then hosting the videos on YouTube or another streaming platform is definitely the better bet. Also, by hosting them on YouTube, you add yet another social platform which may help drive users to your site.
