Currently there is no option to place the sidebar on the front page, but we’ll add it in the next update.
Okay. That would be great. I did add
<?php get_sidebar(); ?>
to the second line in the front-page.php and that seemed to work in adding the sidebar … but it’s aligned left. Is there a way to align it right so it’s congruent with the rest of the site?

There is more to be done than just adding that line. You’ll need to add the proper Bootstrap column classes so that the responsive layout will be preserved.

@luctrue, no option for that at the moment. We might add it in future versions.
In Franz Josef 1.6 which will be available soon, you can use the Franz Josef Stacks addon to create a custom layout for the front page and (among many others) place the sidebar on the left.
