• Hi. Trying to install WP on a remote host. I successfully edited wp-config-sample.php, saving it as wp-config.php. Then I uploaded all the wp files using ws_ftp to the server (I can see them there). When I type the URL to my site and the install file into IE (http://www.spirithealingmakeyourlifework.com/wp-admin/install.php), I get this error message:
    Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.

    Can you help?

    Thanks,
    Peggy

  • You didn’t upload the WP files and directories to the right place:
    http://www.spirithealingmakeyourlifework.com/
    There is nothing there…

Everything that is meant to appear for the “public” should be in a folder public_html or htdocs or www or something similar… whatever is the name of the root folder on your webserver. If not sure, ask your host or read their documentation.

Well, moshu, thanks for replying, truly, but all the WP files are indeed in the public_html folder. I can see them there in all their glory using ws_ftp. Plus, that is the root folder–I asked them.

    Other ideas appreciated!

Now they are there… and your blog is shining. When I’ve checked – the root directory was empty, except a html file.
    Glad you figured it out.
