Hi there,
We will try to include your requested feature in the upcoming plugin updates.
Thanks
Hello there,
We have included the requested shortcode to fetch the share count number only in plugin 2.0.7 update. Please see the how to use section in plugin about the shortcode use details after plugin update.
Thanks
Thank you very much for adding the feature. I see you have released the shortcodes. I tested them. Interestingly the shortcodes work if only one counter is used.
1. So [apss-count network=’twitter’] will return 8, but [apss-count network=’twitter, facebook’] will return 0. However putting each individual shortcode in succession works. So [apss-count network=’facebook’] [apss-count network=’twitter’] will return 8
2. Can the counters be called by PhP or wrapped in div tags? I want to put the counters in a Entry-Meta, but only on single post pages and not archives. I use a plugin called Genesis Simple Edits that populates both. If the counters were wrapped in div tags I could use CSS to hide them.
3. Finally it appears the Facebook count is off. I checked three blog posts where I use the actual Facebook sharing code. These three pages show 12, 27 and 19 shares respectively from Facebook. But in AccessPress counter the counts of 8, 13 and 15 are shown. These are old posts so there has been no recent activity, but I still cleared the cache prior to testing.
Thanks.
Never mind about point 2. I see I can wrap the shortcodes in my own div tags so I can use CSS to not have the counters display on my archive page.
Thanks.
Hello there,
Our replies.
1. Yes our shortcode for share counter works that way. The main motive of this shortcode is to fetch the count of specific network so that the user can fetch the share counter easily and can use that value as per their need. And as you said you can use successive shortcodes for each network to fetch the share counter and use them as per need.
3. For facebook share count we have done some changes in the fetching of the share count as previously the share count is of total of share_count, like_count and comment_count. Now we are fetching only the share count due to which there might be changes in the facebook share count. Can you please provide us website page link so that we can check the issue. You can always send us your site details to our support emails at support@accesspressthemes.com in private.
Thanks
Thanks for replying.
1. That is great and I see your logic. I would suggest your updating the instructions on the bottom of “How To Use” to reflect this. Your Example 2 for networks is Example 2: [apss-share networks=’facebook, twitter, pinterest’ share_text=’Share it’ counter=’1′ total_counter=’1′]. So it is intuitive that multiple networks would work similarly for count. I think putting an Example 2 of [apss-count network=’facebook’] [apss-count network=’twitter’] for count would clarify things a little.
3. I just sent you an email.
Also, this issue is still unresolved. so I do not see why you marked it as resolved. Items 1 and 2 are resolved, but item 3 is not resolved.
Thank you.
