I recently purchased a domain name through the other wordpress site. Then realized it did not meet my needs.
Do I have to register with a new domain host to use this wordpress site?

If the domain you registered doesn’t fit your need you will have to register a new domain for your site.

Hosting your website has nothing to do with the domain name purchase. Most hosting providers offer domain name registration to help users but the two processed are separate.

You can but a domain name from company A and hosting from company B. Then use the domain from company A to company B with proper configuration (DNS).
