I’ve been up all night trying all the fixes to correct the HTTP Error. Reading 5 year old posts to no avail. adecided to try thr codes you put into the .htaccess or php… But I can’t find them anywhere. Looked in wp-admin. Am I missing them or just not looking in the right place, and used the search.

Do I need to delete everything and start over?

  • Hi,

I certainly apologize for your inconveniences. I know the frustration.

What exactly is the problem you are experiencing?

You can find the .htaccess file in the root folder of your WordPress installation. It is on the same level as the wp-admin folder.

    Hi Josh,
Trying to upload video’s I always get the “HTML Error”. I had one work that was less than 10 mb withe a couple of images that were 1000x 800 and it was a MP4 made in MoiveMaker. When I tried files in QuickTime they were rejected.I’ve tried most of the fixes I found, resized the images (all jpg’s), resize the video, change from mov to mp3…etc. I didn’t want to get into the changing the codes in php wp_whatever. I’m leery of screwing it up I raised the upload limit to 250mb with a plugin I found and it does say 250mb but only the 1st mp$ withe large 4 pictures of 11 still loads. These video’s consist of audio (songs) plus still images in a slide show with transitions.I was going to try one without the fancy stuff but dot see why WP is doing this. I really was up all night trying, LOL. Or I would have replied sooner. I know nothing about php or the other changes. When WP switched awhile back to the blog I ended up redoing my site. It’s just a site for me to mess around with and not important like a lot of others with this problem and wondered if I should just toss it all and start over. I really don’t want to, and if it doesn’t fix it I’d go nuts.
Sorry for the length but I don’t want to forget something.Any ideas?

    WordPress installation
OK In cpanel the only Word press file is empty. I’m wondering if I have lost some files there. Can’t find .htaccess anywhere. I don’t understand how it can be empty and I’m still working on the site.

When I double click the WordPress folder it says, “This directory is empty.”.

Right now I’m trying a simple mov file that’s 150mb.BTW I’ve also tried the browser uploader.
No. Same http error. So it can’t be the transitions or effects in Moviemaker.

You know, I think the “Change limit” plug in is BS. I just chopped up the video that won’t load to less than 10mb and it loaded fine.

Well I contacted BlueHost and had the limit raised to 150m. Still getting the error.

Finally found the php.ini and wp-config.php inthe Public_html folder. Changed file and post sizes, took out a bogus line

      define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);

which a couple peple suggested to enter in the wp-config.php file, that stopped the file upload at crunching.
Well, all’s well. Thanks for your reply, I know your busy.

That’s awesome troubleshooting, skoville! Great job!
