new user default role

    I am unable to set the new users default role, everytime i save the page the default reverts to customer, any ideas as everyone who registers is send to a page ; you have no permission, if they go back to the sign in page they are logged in

    “Customer” isn’t a standard WordPress user role, so I suspect that something is conflicting with the process.

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
