Hero Carousel Home Page Display

Hi,
We recently bought this theme and really like the layout especially the Home 6 – Hero Carousel page.
We’re putting together a website and attempted to replicate the layout of your demo but would like to know how you did the following:

– Make each post wider so that all of the posts together are a full page width

– Format each post so that post category is on a red rectangle, the mouse over effect of the post title is red etc.

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.
