White text on submit button and input bar

I am using something called ‘vertical response’ as my mailing list.

They have a ‘create your own’ submission form which i did, then I pasted the code into the text widget for the side bar, but the issue i am having is that the button text is white, and when you type in your email address, it is also white. My colours in solon there is nothing set to white. I don’t know really what to do, I ahve contacted them and they have told me that I have a over ride setting somewhere telling it to be white, but I am only using colours inherited from the theme, so if there is a way to use custom CSS for this, how would I do it?

just to be sure, I also created a second form completely different and put it in the footer, and it is the same

any help would be great.
