I had an old one at zumbajunky.wordpress.com

    – Is you site over at wordpress.com? Yes? In that case please visit the wordpress.com support Forum: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

No, my old one was. This one is with wordpress.org. But it says my domain doesn’t exist. I loaded the app on my phone and was able to get into the .com site but that’s my old one.

    – When did this login issue occured? After you moved from wordpress.com to self-hosted wordpress.org?

No – it worked fine for months after that. I haven’t logged in for about a year and today is when I experienced the problem. Like I said, even my phone app says the URL doesn’t exist. I’m wondering if it just expired or something. Is that a possibility?

If you know how to access phpMyAdmin on your host, then check the wp_options Table (Note: The table prefix of wp_ may be different if you changed it when installing), and make sure siteurl field and home field are correct. See this codex for more info: https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL#Changing_the_URL_directly_in_the_database

Check with your web host to make sure everything (domain name & hosting account) is in line with them. The ‘coming soon’ page is probably theirs.

I have no idea how to do that or what that even means. Bill when you say web host are you referring to godaddy? That’s who I own the domain name through. I called them today and they said server names were pointed out to what he assumed was the wordpress.org location but that was really all he could tell me. He said everything looked fine on their end. I’ll head over to godaddy and see if I can figure out what you’ve mentioned Tara. Thank you for trying to help.

Tara – I just reviewed the link you provided – and have no idea what to do with that information. MySQL databases? Setting it up was pretty easy and I can use about any website builder tool, pulled in the plugins just fine, linked out to other sites, etc., but apparently I’m in over my head with the troubleshooting.

This is the only thing I can find in GoDaddy that is data that I entered. NS61.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS62.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

This is really frustrating. I used to just go to the admin login page associated with my domain name and log right in… now it doesn’t exist.

    Hi,

Have you enabled Coming Soon plugins (like under construction ) recently or when you moved from WordPress.com to self hosted?

As of now, anything after your website name showing “website coming soon page”.

If you have FTP OR cPanel access, then remove (or move outside public_html) any other default/index page except index.php.

If you have previously installed such plugins, then uninstall it.

Here is a guide you can follow to uninstall the pluign through FTP.

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins

    Thanks,

I created my site a year or so ago and posted regularly for a while but then got busy. Trying to access it today I get the coming soon page.

One year is the default time for many things…looks to me as though you may well no longer own the domain…

In any event, this is an issue for the host and not a WP issue.

have you contacted your hosting provider? If not, i suggest contacting them, and asking them what’s going on.

    Thread Starter hopehughes

    (@hopehughes)

Thanks but as I stated previously, I have contacted the host, everything is fine on their end, I still own the domain name through 2016 and it is pointed to the WP info.

Is there any other way to access my account? Or have I just lost all of that content and need to start over?

All of your posts and pages are stored in your WP database which presumably is on a GoDaddy server. All of your images and any other uploaded files are in wp-contents > uploads, also on a GD server, and probably at the root of your hosting account.

You can verify this by logging in to your GD hosting account and using whatever file manager they have for you to view those files.

While in there (and as mentioned above), if you see a file called index.html, index.htm, home.html or similar, renaming it (index-old.html for ex.) should get rid of the coming soon page IF you have a functioning WP installation. Do not rename index.php if you see it.

You are listed as the owner of the domain through 2016 as you say. Those are the parts required: domain name pointed to the GD server, WP installation on that server (files, and folders such as wp-content, and a database.

I called them today and they said server names were pointed out to what he assumed was the wordpress.org location but that was really all he could tell me.

He shouldn’t have to assume anything. Contact them again and hopefully talk to someone who can actually help you. There is no ‘wordpress.org’ location – just the WP installation on their server (if in fact you have one set up there). No one here is in a better position to help you sort this than GD who has access to everything regarding your account with them. Good luck! And sorry you’re having such trouble.

What seems to me to be the most useful piece of information, but was not given, is the URL to the (new) site. This forums’ members, its’ experienced members, the moderators, etc. can then review what is going on and more likely provide an answer.

BTW, anyone could let us know the url without a direct link here (although it is prefered) by doing something like this:

domain dot com slash page (oops the domain does not have a space in it)

Note: Most ‘Call level’ ‘techs’ at most hosts do not even know they are viewing sites behind their own cached firewall…call or seek support during weekday business hours and insist that the support request is escalated (politely).

If, however, you cannot assist that first level support tech in what to ask them, you will likely be told all is well or asked to seek advice elsewhere.
