• Hi.

I’ve got an urgent problem: I am unable to access my .org account because it seems to be linked with my .com account. In an unrelated issue, my .org blog went live even though I had not hit the link to make it live. Now I have incomplete posts that should be private, with no way to access the account.

Could you please help ASAP? I like to 1) get access to my account, 2) hide all my blogs, and 3) unlink my .com and .org accounts.

My website is heathergemmenwilson.com and my username is [username removed by moderator].

    Thanks!

Your WP.org account is completely separate from your website that is self-hosted. To log into your website that is self-hosted, go to: http://www.mydomain.com/wp-login.php — insert your actual domain name.

Your WP.org account is what you use to log into this forum.

Your WP.com account gives you access to your .com blogs.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I’m aware that the sites should be separate. For a time, I was accessing both. Now suddenly they are integrated and I cannot access my .org account. I was able to view the blog posts by going into .com and make them private; however, I am still unable to log in to the account to customize, etc.

When I go to http://www.heathergemmenwilson.com/wp-admin/ I get an error message: Page not found. When I log into .com and select the old site that heathergemmenwilson (via wordpress.com) and click customize it gives me the error message: Cheatin’ uh?

Perhaps the problem is that the domain name for the wordpress.com site was the same as the domain name for my new wordpress.org site.

One part of the problem is that there is no website at http://www.heathergemmenwilson.com/ to log into. It looks like this is a placeholder page at Bluehost. Is that where your hosting account is located? If so, and you log into your Bluehost account and go to file manager, do you see file folders for “wp-admin” or “wp-content”?

Yes, there is a website at that address, but apparently it is still private. (I’m not ready for it to go live, so that’s good news.)

I can see the site, but I no longer have access to the dashboard. I’ve been working on the site for weeks, and it was all working fine. I put it aside for several days and came back to this problem.

One of the things I’ve done to help fix this problem is to log into my wordpress.com account and click “disconnect jetpack.” I’m not sure how they got linked in the first place. Now the two accounts are separate again, but I can’t access the new site I created in .org. When I try to go to my dashboard as I always have, by going to http://www.heathergemmenwilson.com/wp-admin/ I get an error message: Page not found.

It would help be be more clear: you are not creating a site “in .org” — .org is this forum and the plugin repository, etc. You have created “a self-hosted site”– as opposed to a .com-hosted blog. 🙂

When I go to http://www.heathergemmenwilson.com/wp-admin/, there is an option to log in with a wp.com account. I suspect that that is how your site that connected to WP.com

Can you see any files in your Bluehost account?

    If so, try

-temporarily rename or delete the .htaccess to see if that resoves the issue.
    – if that doesn’t help, try deactivating all your plugins by temporarily renaming the folder (found in wp-content) to plugins-hold. If this helps, log in, and reactivate them one by one until you find the culprit.

-if that doesn’t help, try switching to the default theme by temporarily renaming your active theme to rule out any theme-specific issue

If none of that works, there are some other suggestions on this page:

One of the things I’ve done to help fix this problem is to log into my wordpress.com account and click “disconnect jetpack.” I’m not sure how they got linked in the first place.

Generally by installing jetpack and pressing ‘activate’ is how that happens.

The two aren’t linked, though, not really. You normally can’t log in to your self-hosted blog with your .com information UNLESS you turned on that option in Jetpack. It’s just a connection to allow jetpack to use the API on .com for things like Publicize and stats.

Now. It’s possible BlueHost defaulted to do that for you, but I actually don’t believe they can.

Your login is at https://www.heathergemmenwilson.com/~heathhe8/wp-login.php right now. You may need to ask BH for assistance there.

The reason that I’m writing is because I’m working on a project at this moment and I’m building an organization for nonprofit. When I build this website I didn’t know the my limitation from the difference of “ Com” and “Org”. really would like to add other applications to the website for example chatroom and other. I also will like to use some software for the website sinces this project is for people with disabilities.

I don’t know if you guys can change it the whole website from “ Com to Org, i will most greatful of you can.

I really don’t know how to use website very well, I like WordPress is because it’s easy to work around it.

I’m still working I’m getting when are you package and get my domain.

    Thanks,
    Godofredo
