Role-manager and 2.3

Hi,

I am using wp 2.3 and have installed role-manager plugin.
I have set up a new role: anonymous with level 0 and no rights. What I am trying to achieve is the following:
– If someone hasn’t registered and logged in they cannot see any of my posts

But this doesn’t seem to work. Only if I use the user permission plugins and specify for a new post that only certain role can read the post it become “protected”.
But I have more than 1500+ posts… I can’t do this manually for each of them! hence why I wanted to use the role-manager plugin.

Doesn’t WP 2.3 assign a default role for someone who isn’t registered? if not how can I make it do so and how can I hide my posts to non registered users?
