The assumption with ‘Add Event’ is that it grants somebody permission to publish an event; ‘Approve Event’ grants somebody permission to approve events that were submitted by somebody else.

If you turn on the setting for ‘Events Require Approval’, on the settings page, you should get the effect you’re looking for; that feature only allows administrators to submit events without going through approval.

    Hi Joe,

Thank you very much for your speedy reply.

I couldn’t see an ‘Events Require Approval’ option in the settings page. The closest thing I could see was the ‘Enable approval options’ – which I have ticked and tried again to no avail. Could you point me in the right direction please?

    Many thanks!

That’s what I was referring to; I’ll check it out. I’m on the road right now, but I should be able to look at this by Friday.

    Hi Joe,

Much appreciated! I’ll be happy to pass on any log-in credentials or any further info needed if you need to investigate.

Look forward to hearing from you on Friday.

    Thanks again.

I did some testing, and everything is working exactly as I expected. An author who has ‘Add Event’ privileges without approval privileges can only add events that are unapproved.

Are you on the latest version?

Oh; you said that in the original message. Never mind.

Can you double check your permissions for Authors; verify that the user in question *is* actually an Author, and, if you’re using any plug-ins that provide custom roles & capabilities, whether any capabilities have been changed for your Author role?
