No Zone Found for Seat

I’m trying to export a seating plan, so that I can add text at the center top of the plan for STAGE, and then import it as was suggested in another post I found somewhere.

However – when I export the seating plan (which previews just fine) and then import it (making no changes whatsoever), then I am presented with a No Zone Found for Seat error message.

Is anybody able to assist me?

I’ve taken your Zone Specification and repeated the test that you did, and it worked without problem (apart from the fact the filename was recorded incorrectly – fix in next release).

When a template is imported, stageshow attempts to match all the seat entries against the zone spec for that Seating Plan, and if a seat is defined in the template, but not in the Zone Spec the “No Zone Found For Seat” message with the row and seat number of the rogue seat following. So did you error message have a seat reference following it? You do need to import inot a seating plan that has identical Zone Specs to the one used to export the template, so either the same Seating Plan (with zone specs unchanged) or a new one with the same Zone Specs.

Note Generate Preview creates a template from the Zone Specs on the form (which can have been edited). Import and Export use the values currently saved in the database.

I did get the email you sent concerning your seating plans, but support for a time-critical site needed my full attention. However, it looks like you are making progress without my help. You would however be better defining your Zone as 1.1-8.20 (so you don’t get the eight spaces to the left of the seats) and then use a “Seat Decode Definition” to change the row number to letters, and to renumber the seats.

Many thanks – the seat which is throwing up the error is the very last one; 15_27

It won’t let be reupload it because it throws up that error, so I’m stuck. There are zero modifications because I wanted to see if it was adding text that was cocking it up, so I exported it (it opens in the browser), pasted it into Notepad, Saved it as a .html file and imported it and the error is the result.

Aaah! When importing a template, StageShow starts at the end of the template and works backwards … backwards because it adds extra class definitions as it goes, and working backwards makes it easier to keep tracks of where it is in the template. So your error occurs on the first entry.

My guess is that you have ended up with a file that looks like the downloaded file, but is actually an HTML coded version of it. The downloaded file must be saved “as is” … if it opens in a browser then the format has probably already been changed, rendering it useless.

Change the settings on your local machine to save the file, rather than opening it in a browser and take it from there.

Finally resolved (by email). Two issues.
1. Export of template opened in Browser. Recommended to change settings so that it can be saved direct to a file.
2. Templates can only be imported into a seating plan with the same Zone Specs …. so either the Seating Plan that was used to create a base template using export, or another Seating Plan with the same Zone Specs. An attempt to import into a seating plan without specifying the Zone Specs correctly will give an error.
