… but I want mine to display a second and larger picture next to it with a caption.
You need to explain more about that, provide screenshots, point us to your site.. then we will be glad to help 🙂
Hi fwashington,
Remember, Google is your friend. 🙂
A quick google search on the phrase “wordpress plugin image hover effects” turned up this one:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/amazing-hover-effects/
It looks like it will do what you’re looking for.
Hey guys thanks for the quick responses. Unfortunately Trisha, google or youtube are not my friends because Ive spent hours looking for what Im achieving to do and Ive seen the plugin that you suggested and its not what Im looking for.
I have a screenshot of what I’m attempting to do now I just need to figure out how to post it on here. What a day lol
I posted the picture to my media. Heres the link of what Im attempting to do.
As you can see, when the thumbnail is hovered over, a second image appears and provides a description underneath.
Ah I get it now.
That looks like a gallery/lightbox plugin, where the thumbnail (small version) is linked to a different large version.
Try looking at Gallery and Lightbox plugins.
Easy Fancybox is one…..you’d have to modify it’s CSS so that it doesn’t darken the overlay, and the rest is simply when you upload your image to the page (create a gallery if you want it to look like your screenshot), just have the thumbnail link to a different (larger) image and add a caption….that is what should show below the photo.
I’ll try that out right now. I really appreciate the help Trisha.
Unfortunately, it seems that all of the plugins that I find requires the user to click on the image or the hover effect only shows on the image that the mouse is over. Any other suggestions? I really just want the ability to hover over the image for a new image to appear next to it
Thanks for your help in advance
