Check Freepgs over the years they have become better and better. Its a one time payment. Although when or if you sign up you will need to use the contact form to ask them to turn the mail function on for your account.
I have a plan with them to use for testing blogs and scripts and haven’t had a problem with them for over a year. Support is really good too.
I won’t say IX Web Hosting is a bad hosting provider. We have switched hosting providers several times. And we have concluded that there is no perfect hosting provider. Every one of them has problems and will give you problems every once in a while.
As for IX Web Hosting, their customer support division is located in India. They answer questions quickly, but because of cultural differences, they never answer them straightforward. Inevitably, you will end up exchange messages 3 or 4 times eventually to find out the answer you need.
How about the service they provide, in terms of, unlimited service (their highest package).
Umm… I forgot to tell you that IX Web Hosting is one of the hosting companies using the monthly fee confusion. So a monthly fee may not be $12.95.
As for the hosting plan itself, it looks fine although I would ask more for monthly bandwidth.
Now that’s what I was looking for. I knew it was too good to be true.
With that in light, can anyone suggest “TRUE” unlimited ‘no monthly fee confusion’?
I don’t think there is such thing as really “unlimited” (except the universe…). That’s just a marketing slogan.
I see moshu’s point. He is right. I know that some of them set hurdles like making a request in writing every 2 GB or so. You won’t get unlimited space with a dedicated server, you know?
HostExcellent has a hosting plan with unlimited disk space, I believe. But HostExcellent is run by the same company that runs IX Web Hosting.
And it’s also true that most people go for unlimited bandwidth as opposed to unlimited space. Most major hosting companies increase space and monthly bandwidth every several months. It’s pretty hard to fill 2 or 3 GB of space in 6 months unless you use it for storage.
Ya unlinited providers oversell their servers and have very bad performance.
Here is the thing, I currently have a website that I have integrated a gallery and hopefully a WordPress Blog as well. I know that my gallery gets packed with pictures because I’m hosting it on my own. I’m using an open source gallery. I don’t want to run into any space issues so I want to make sure I have enough room or unlimited room if I’m going to pay x amount per month.
I need something reliable as well and not hit me with so hidden fees, etc. I don’t have lots and lots of traffic coming into my site, however, I think 4000 GB transfer is enough. At least that’s what IX hosting was offering.
So, given that circumstances, no one here use any service that boast “unlimited” service (storage and/or transfers) and not have any issues.
I want unlimited due to not having to worry about space and so I can stick with them for awhile. Integrating the gallery and wordpress blog and configuring it is a pain in the butt and I don’t want to have to do it over and over again.
Hopefully someone can give me a heavenly hosting service provider that has these features.
