• I have two issues, likely related.
First, when I look at the list of subscribers, there are no names. I can export the list and get names. I would like to see them without exporting. If I add a subscriber from the blog, it goes into the subscriber void. For example I added myself and I did get the latest post. I think there is a discrepancy between the export list and who is getting it, but am not sure since I can’t see everything.
Second, I am getting a steady stream of email messages saying I have a new user registration. I received over 40 in the last few days, all (but one) with a yahoo email address. The front part of the email addresses look like they are phony. When I look a the list of users they are all set as subscribers. I changed my (strong) password and that did not stop it. I don’t know how they are adding users.

  • Go to Settings > General at your Dashboard and de-check “Anyone can register” to stop the user registrations.

Subscribers for e-mail lists and “Subscriber” as a registered user role are not the same thing, and I do not know anything about how WordPress handles e-mail subscribers.

I no longer get the phony new user registrations, but when I look at my user list those are the only ones I see. The real subscribers still do not show.
Also, for some reason, the number of times the page is sent is variable. I was getting one copy, then two, now three. Others report getting two, some three, some one.
