"From" email not working
-
First, thanks for this awesome plugin. But I have one small problem: I set up my welcome email, and it is mostly working great, but even though I set the From Name and Email, emails are still coming from “WordPress” and “wordpress@my_site_url.com”. Any ideas?

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your message.I’ll do some testing and see if I can re-produce it.
I’ll let you know how I get on.Thanks,
JackThanks!
Hi Stephen,
On closer inspection, I realised that the Welcome Email notification doesn’t allow the headers of the email to change as it’s transactional. See this screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pqjblmj7goojgo7/Screenshot%202015-06-03%2011.05.14.png?dl=0
Can you confirm you are working with the ‘New User – Welcome Email’ notification and that you’re seeing the CC, BCC, etc. fields?
Thanks,
JackHi Jack, thanks for getting back to me. Yes I can confirm all of the above:
1. “Notification For” is “New User – Welcome Email”
2. Additional Email Fields shows a checkbox (“Show additional email fields”) and it is checked
3. From Name and Email, CC, BSS are all present
4. Followed by Users, Subject and finally Message BodyI am using version 1.2 of your plugin and WordPress 4.2.2
Hi Stephen,
Ok, that’s interesting.Did you update from a previous version of the plugin or have you only ever used v1.2?
I’m thinking that we’ve discovered a bug where the transactional notifications are displaying the additional fields when they’ve been created with a past version of the plugin and then it’s been updated to 1.2.Can you copy the contents of the message body, delete the notification and then set it up again, pasting in the contents of the message body and see if this helps?
Thanks,
JackHi Jack,
This was a brand new install, and the only record I created was the New User – Welcome Email one.
I just tested deleting my message and recreating it, and now I see what the bug is. When I first enter the message, you are right, it will not let me add those fields. BUT once it is saved, I am then able to check that box and add those fields.
Hope this helps, and thanks again,
StephenPS: is there really NO way to change the FROM email on these? Why should it always have to say wordpress@ when that is not a real address either?
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for tracking that down – that’s really useful. The bug is actually causing you not to be able to change the from name and email (when you should be able to) and is also adding the CC and BCC fields (which it shouldn’t).
Hopefully, when this is fixed all should be well for you.I’ll leave this thread open until a fix is released.
Thanks again,
JackHello Jack,
I have the same issue !
Waiting for the new release then!
BestThis has now been fixed in v1.3 which has just been released.
If you encounter any more problems, just re-open this thread. Thanks,
JackHello Jack,
I have tested the ‘welcome email’ but the from is still ‘wordpress’.Could you please advise?
Best, Sonia
We are seeing a similar issue to the OP with Post Notifications. It doesn’t matter what we put in the From name or email address, the notification email always comes “From” the generic site name at “no-reply@domain”. I could not find specific documentation about what exactly could be used in the From fields, but assumed it could be anything…or at least any existing user account on the site.
Hi lovellje,
Thanks for your message.Which notification is this for?
Can you confirm you’re using the latest version of the plugin and the latest version of WordPress? Thanks,
Jackit is for the New Post Published notification. We are on v1.3 of the plugin and v4.2.2 of WordPress. We had the problem before v1.3 and updated to that last week hoping that would fix it based on the comments above, but it didn’t. The notes for 1.3.2 don’t seem to apply to what we’re seeing.
Hi lovellje,
So, just to confirm, you’re using the New Post Published notification and you can change the ‘From’ name and email address but when the notification emails come through, they still show as being from ‘WordPress’ and using the default WordPress email address (e.g. wordpress@yoursite.com).
Is that correct?
Thanks,
JackYes, that is correct…except it doesn’t say “WordPress”…it is from “[our Site Name]” with email of “noreply@[oursite.com]”
