Plugin Failure Renders Site Inaccessible

    I have a blog that, as of today, has completely died. I can’t access the admin panel, and even readers cannot access the site. After consulting with friends on Facebook, one said it’s probably a plugin failure, and the said plugin needs to be deactivated. Ugh. I have pretty much zero idea how to do this without using the admin panel.

    I use DreamHost, but that’s no help to me either, because I don’t know what to do from the file (FTP?) side.

    I really don’t knwo what to do. Any help would be appreciated. If I have to dismantle everything, I would be loathe to do so, but realize that this is something that might have to happen.

    If you can’t access your admin pages, you’ll need to use an FTP client (like FileZilla), or your host’s cPanel (or File Manager) and navigate to the plugins on the server. File Manager is easiest if this is new to you.

    In your WP installation there, find wp-content/plugins and rename the ‘Social Networks Auto-Poster’ plugin folder by adding ‘-hold’ to the end of the folder’s name. Hopefully that should allow you to get back into WP admin.

    If this isn’t something you’re comfortable doing yourself, your web-host support would probably do this for you, or at least help you set up FTP access. Most of them also have help docs to walk you through how to use both FTP (or SFTP) and their FIle Manager.
