No web.config file effects?

    My site wasn’t working(500 internal server error) after I changed the permalink structure, so I tried a whole bunch of things to try to get it back up. Ultimately, I just deleted the web.config file. What effects does this have on the site? What should be in my web.config file if I need it?

    Im running WordPress on GoDaddy’s Windows Hosting.

    My site started working again after I outright deleted the web.config file. What effects will not having a web.config file have on the site?
