• Since the update to 4.2.2 I cannot log into my admin panel. It takes two log-in tries. The first log-in fails. I enter my information a second time and there is now a captcha asking me to add two numbers together. I fill in the information a second time and can log in. This happens every time I log in. I am using Chrome as my browser. One of the subscribers to my site also has the same problem. She is logging in as a subscriber, not an admin but also has to log in twice. This only happened since the upgrade to 4.2.2. It is frustrating for me, but if other subscribers have the same problem, the results are I will lose subscribers. Does anyone have a solution to this problem or are experiencing the same problem?

Does the login page display any notices when it doesn’t work the first time?

I am using Chrome as my browser.

Have you tried it with different broswers (i.e. Firefox, or Safari are on a Mac)?

Did it happen is 4.2.1 or 4.2, or just 4.2.2?

I tried it with Firefox and IE and it works without a problem. Trying it on Chrome requires two logins. The second login has a pop-up message “Error cookies are bocked or not supported by your browser. You may enable cookies to use WordPress”. I then log in again and the new login window has a captcha at the bottom requesting two numbers be added together. I don’t need to fill in the answer on the captcha to log in the second time. As I said before, this only happened after the upgrade to 4.2.2.

Thank you for any assistance with this very annoying problem.

I would make sure that your host provide ensures that Varnish isn’t enabled.

    See thread: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cookies-are-blocked-or-not-supported-since-update-to-371/page/3

I also experienced this problem on an old website of mine.

Varnish is not enabled. I had a long, painful live chat with Bluehost and the end result is that he feels it is apparently a Chrome issue. But if it worked before the update to 4.2.2 why doesn’t it work now? I have not changed any of my settings in Chrome.

But if it worked before the update to 4.2.2 why doesn’t it work now?

You could try downgrading to WordPress 4.2. Check out this video on how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lX3E-qIpJM
