Hi,
As the Master post suggests..
1) If you were using Twenty Ten, Twenty Eleven, Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen, Twenty Fourteen, or Twenty Fifteen as your theme, and you received WordPress 4.2 by a hosting provider’s auto-update system, you may need to manually install a new version of the theme.
2) If you are using other theme, try switching to the default theme through FTP.
3) Remove your theme and access the dashboard. Copy your theme on the server and try to activate it. This should resolve your issue.
Thanks,
Hi,
I followed your steps above, but unfortunately the site goes blank again after I try and activate a fresh install of the theme I use.
So I’ve deleted the theme from the server using FTP. This brings back access to the Dashboard and the site in general (without the theme of course, so stuff looks out of place). I then used the original theme that I downloaded when creating the site months ago and manually uploaded it to the themes folder using FTP. In the Dashboard, under Appearance -> Themes I can see the theme again. When I try to activate it, the Dashboard immediately goes blank again and the website as well.
Please advise, thanks.
For the time being, I’ve downgraded to my previous WP version to get it all working again.
How important is the update to 4.2.2 for a personal website with no sensitive information of any kind?
