I’m unable to update 4.2.2, every time I perform the update i’m not able to login in to the /wp-admin of my webstie using a valid user and password. I use a backup to restore to previous settings.

Searching around in my c-panel under apps I see that the installation is under a wrong directory, maybe that’s the reason why the update does not work and i’m unable to login again.

    Eg:
    – My website runs in “web.com/web2015” and this is where I log to my wp-admin
    – In my c-panel/apps/wordpress the install points to another folder “web.com/web2014”

What would be the correct steps in order to fix this?

    Thanks

Have you tried manual updating? No? Then try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.

I’d ask web.com support; the difference in the WordPress directories is something they’d need to advise you on. And they aare a commercial service and have their own way of installing WordPress.
