    I have my own domain and have successfully installed WordPress. I already had a WordPress site before I connected it with the domain, but everything switched over just fine. I went into my cPanel and uploaded a theme using FileZilla. I placed it in the /public_html/wp-content/themes/ folder and unzipped it.

    Everything works fine until I navigate to the “Presentation – Available Themes” section in my WordPress dashboard. None of my new themes will appear! I have been working on this for hours and have tried everything I can think of, including checking to make sure the themes folder isn’t buried within another folder. I have tried uploading four different themes to make sure it is not the theme itself.

    Help would be MUCH appreciated!

    annakristine.net

    ok, well why do I see this when I look at your source?

    meta name="generator" content="WordPress.com" /> <!-- leave this for stats please -->
    <style type="text/css" media="screen">
    		@import url( http://s.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/classic/style.css?m=1178693851 );
    	</style>

    are you doing some redirect gizmo from wordpress.com?

    actually, scratch that, since I just realized that putting your url into ff promptly sends me off to wordpress.com

    you cant have it both ways — I dont think. In other words, you cannot redirect to wordpress.com and use themes that are stored locally on your own domain.

    So, you either manage with what .com has avialable, or you kill the redirect and and have that url actually go to where your domain is hosted.

    I don’t completely understand, but this might help. Under “Options” and “Domains” in my dashboard, I had set up annakristine.net to function as my blog’s url. This was before I installed it on my domain. I’ve tried to reset it but the options won’t let me. Is that what’s causing the problem?

    in a nutshell, yes.

    Clicking on the url above redirects you to your wordpress.com blog.

    So if I remove the domain redirect but leave everything else the same, it should be fine, is what I’m reading?
