• I have a couple blogs under my host and all of them are still working, but two of them are getting that Error establishing a database connection message. I noticed some of the working ones have really long DB passwords like GJSAFSFS under the wp-config.php file. One of them that is not working has a different type of password… the actual password I use to login to my cpanel. Does anyone think that my DB password is wrong and it should be something else?

I have no idea… its just all the other sql passwords are long and in capital letters and then the blog that isn’t working has a completely different password. I just need to get rid of this database connection error message.

Log into your manager and see what the password is for that DB.

login to the control panel? what do you mean by manager?

Wherever you created your databases. You should be able to log into your cpanel or whatever it is you use and manage your website (its different on different hosts) and look at the info for the databases :o)

Ok, what info am I looking for here? Do you have AIM so maybe we could talk a little easier?

I dont have aim. All you have to do is log into your control panel and go to your databse manager, view the info for the particular DB thats giving you password trouble and view the info for it. The password should be there.

If it doesnt show your password you should at least be able to change it and then change it on the config file too.

Thats the other problem… I go into the control panel and then MySQL Databases and the database for the blog is gone. All the others are there, but that one is gone and I never deleted it or anything.

Did you happen to auto install that particular DB? Who is your host?

http://phirefast.com/ is my host and yes I installed it a while ago under Control Panel and under Fantastico or whatever comes with Control Panel. It still shows up under Fantastico and I can still edit all the folders like style.css but I am getting this error message if you check out the blog. http://www.celtics247.com/blog

Well both myself and a friend use Godaddy and he auto installed a photo gallery and found out the hard way that when you autoinstall (at least at godaddy), you dont have access to the database. Could be that its the same with your hosts. You might try contacting them.

Our domain is through godaddy, but the site is not hosted by them. What was the solution to your guys problem? Did you lose all the posts and everything from your blog?

There was no solution unfortunately. He called and talked to tech support and they had no clue what he was even talking about. He just reinstalled the gallery manually.

Hmm… wouldn’t my blog and all its posts be backed up somewhere on my host? I just really do not want to lose all my stuff.
