• I have been backing up several sites with Duplicator and creating backups on WAMPSERVER quite successfully for months. However, quite suddenly, I discover that one of the sites, http://tentcitytacoma.net/ gives me much grief and heartburn.

I am able to run the deployment quite successfully. I get to the third step where I am supposed to clean up the unneeded files and test the site. When I click on the “test site” option, the site comes up, and I am able to log into the dashboard to perform the other cleanup tasks and fix the permalinks.

However, it seems the links to all of the pages, the “Recent Comments,” the “Archives” in the side widgets are all broken. I get nothing but 404s. I can see my posts in TinyMCE and edit them, but when I hit “view post,” more 404s.

When I go into the dashboard, I can see the listing of all of the posts, but if I click on view, I get 404s.

It’s as if, all of a sudden on this one site, something breaks all the links.

I’ve been using Duplicator for backup, and to me a backup is only as good as the ability to restore it. So I compulsively test my backups in WAMPSERVER. My inability to make a solid backup via Duplicator makes me nervous because Duplicator is the only thing I’ve been able to use successfully to back up several sites.

I’m not having this problem on my other sites. Please help.

    Regards,
    Alan

I forgot to mention this. I can create a test post, and as long as I save it to draft, I can click on “preview” and see it there. But if I try to publish it, the link goes to a 404.

Should I send you the install log? I’m not good at interpreting it, but nothing I saw raised any red flags.

    Hey Alanoldstudent,

Its may be something in your .htaccess file. Often times the issue can be tricky to find, but in many cases it comes down to a setting somewhere. If you wan to submit a ticket and reference this forum thread, I’ll have a look when I get some time…

    Thanks~
