Moving to MailChimp Will WordPress.com List Be Lost?

Hello,

I am moving my e-mail list to MailChimp after using Jetpack for subscriptions.

More than half of my followers subscribed to WordPress.com.

Will those followers be lost? Or is there a way for them to still receive updates?

I thought initially I could keep Jetpack working as well but

I read that I have to turn off the Jetpack subscription to use MailChimp.
