One of our members gets an error code uploading his images. The error says “Sorry this image will not be accepted. Either it’s type could not be detected or it is not an acceptable image type for this application”.
The file name shows as ** the filename.jpg:
The asterisks and colon were not in the original file name. The member is very experienced so it doesn’t sound like a user problem. Other members have test uploaded the same file using various jpeg formats with out a problem.

Would you know what the problem might be?
    Thanks

The “**” and “:” are just added as part of the error message — not a problem.

When you say “Other members have test uploaded the same file”, do you mean exactly the same image file? With exactly the same filename (

      including case and extension

)? If not, it might be a good idea to try that.

The error message comes from javascript running on your member’s machine, so I’d also suggest checking their javascript settings. The message may possibly come when the file cannot be read for some reason.

Yes, I was advised the file name and extensions were all identical to the original. The member with the problem was advised to check their javascript settings. Although the member hasn’t replied, I know they have been uploading successfully since then, so will assume javascript was the problem and mark this thread as resolved.
    Thanks again.
