Comicpress theme

I already have comicpress installed on my site, but I wanted to make some changes on my local host, so I installed comicpress locally (I’m using MAMP on Mac) and exported the XML files from my site and then imported them locally. I don’t know if this was the right way of going about it, but anyway.

I was expecting my website to magically appear on my local site, but its just a blank website, and even comicpress is not installed (although my file uploads are there). I installed comicpress on the local site, but the COMICS item isn’t turning up in the dashboard menu.

(a) why is this menu not appearing?
(b) isn’t there any way to automatically duplicate my website locally without having to redesign the page after I’ve exported then imported?
