    Hi

Wordfence just spotted 2 issues with my website, which I told it to fix… The result is that I can’t access the website anymore (not the actual website nor the admin). I’m told “The File ‘wp-config.php already exists”…?

I’ve tried deleting the wp-config.php file without result. Dont worry I kept a backup of the file and uploaded it again.

What do I do? Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • Do you have a backup prior to fixing the files to restore from? Try renaming the Wordfence folder via FTP. Are there any other errors in your error log?

Hey, I’m having the same problem! Brian, may I ask you this: rename the Wordfence folder to what? What name should it have?

If you are locked out and getting a message from Wordfence specifically, you can rename the folder to anything temporarily, to disable the plugin — but if the only message you’re getting is that wp-config.php already exists, there is probably a different problem.

Can you create a new post in this forum, and include a screenshot of the message, plus a link to this post? The wordpress.org forum rules ask us to have one issue per post, and it also helps us keep track of any open issues. Sometimes the context in a screenshot will help solve the problem, but if you can’t do that, can you copy and paste the error message text? Thanks!
