one wordpress, 2 languages, 2 domains

    hi there,

    currently working on a wordpress site that requires 2 languages, which i’ve set up using Polylang.

    website is http://www.lightboxresource.co.uk

    works fine in english but when you change the language to welsh (cymraeg) using the drop down on the top right it won’t access the http://www.bocsgolau.co.uk (the welsh version) even though the URL at the top is fine.

    I’ve used the polylang setting to use 2 separate URLS for each language. But doesn’t seem to work.

    Any heads up on this will be appreciated.

    Hi Welshyoz,

    There must be something wrong with the file permission for the second domain. There can be two problems:

    1. You deleted your .htaccess file.
    2. Your permissions are set incorrectly.

    Thanks for the reply Janis,

    In the FTP would i need 2 folders for each domain still? and allow the htaccess to redirect to the original wordpress?

    or is it just a case of editing the htaccess file to redirect the welsh one to the english one?

    Hi Welshyoz,

    Currently when choosing the Welsh version of your website, you get sent to http://www.bocsgolau.co.uk/hafan/. So either you set your Welsh site to the following URL using Polylang or you can us .htaccess file to redirect http://www.bocsgolau.co.uk/hafan/ to the URL where the Welsh version is.

    I couldn’t access http://www.bocsgolau.co.uk/ anymore, I don’t know, perhaps you made some serious changes/modifications since your last reply?

    Hi Janis, thanks for your reply, (sorry for my late one, only just got back to this project today)

    I’ve transferred the site to another server, and since then the welsh version doesn’t seem to load. The URL itself loads fine with my polylang plugin,

    but won’t load anything as the directory for bocsgolau.co.uk/hafan doesn’t exist on the FTP.

    any ideas how i can redirect this to use the files in the wordpress files from the lightboxresource.co.uk directory? I’m guessing it’s something to do with htacess file, but I’ve never created one of these before.
