• Resolved 8string

I’m finally pondering moving my site, which is setup under my personal domain (www.olyopen.net resolves to http://www.albergstein.com/blog) into it’s own web site, hosted out on it’s own. When I do that, I assume that I backup the whole site, and restore it under the new standalone domain location. Are there any special issues that I’m going to face, like broken links, etc with this new situation? My assumption is that the links will resolve to the same old http://www.olyopen.net address, and DNS will take care of the issue. Am I wrong? What have others encountered when doing this?

  • It might be a good idea to read through this:

Ok, I will follow the instructions there. I was hoping to find any specific issues that might trip people up, beyond following the standard process. If I get wrapped around the axle I’ll yell for help, but as of now, I’ll mark this “resolved” and get back if needed. The instructions there seemed clear enough. (oddly when searched using the word “Move site” it did not bring up the Codex on moving a site). Oh well.

    Thanks again for feedback.
