    Hi All!
I am a potential WP user. Is it possible for WP to use more than one theme at the same time.
for examples; some categories have one design, the others another…
    Thank you for your assistance

  • Yes and no. The effect you describe of different designs for different cats is achieveable. But it would still be one theme.
A lot of folk recently ask this type of question. The answer generally is that WP can be pretty much fixed up to do anything. Its only a bit of php. 🙂 Whether the individual has the skills needed is a different matter…………………

    Deleted. Posted to wrong thread.

Thanks root! I used search, but obviously with the wrong keywords…
So, it needs programming; it is not achievable through interface?

Well it needs theme development. That is CSS, XHTML and a tag or two in php. I wouldn’t call it programming. 🙂

Ok; it’s coding, and it’s what i do for living ;).
However, if it is not a matter of configuration, and if it’s not a matter of plug-in/add-on/widget/module/whatever/, and I must modify the code, then, I’ll fork from the main WP, and I’ll be eternally damned with upgrades. 😉
    Am I right?

No you won’t be right. Within limits themes are completely discrete and separate items. Upgrading WP does not affect your themes.
