    Hello,
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I opened the permalink section and changed to a custom permalink
(The second choice from bottom ) using the post name

I then copied the provided .htaccess code into the .htaccess file, saved and uploaded

Many page links are now 404 (Being redirected the the new permalink style but finding 404)

When I go to the wp-admin > Setting > Permalink to try and change this back, it boots me back to a login page with what looks like a repetitive url
    http://domain.com/signs/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.domain.com%2Fsigns%2Fwp-admin%2Foptions-permalink.php&reauth=1

    DOMAIN.com = Actual domain name

Any help you can offer is very much appreciated.
    Thank you
    Scott

    Hi,

    Hmmmm, when you say:

I then copied the provided .htaccess code into the .htaccess file, saved and uploaded

I personally have never seen WP core provide any code nor had to copy that anywhere, when I have changed the permalink settings.

So I am wondering where this is coming from…….

    Can you provide more details?

In any case, afaik you do not need to mod .htaccess so I would try undoing any changes to this file and see what happens when you just change the permalink settings…….

    Thanks for your reply wpfan1000

Yes if your .htaccess is no writeable if gives you the code and instructs you to copy it to the .htaccess.

I have tried changing it back to the original .htaccess, but it is still acting weird. And I can’t access the permalink page from wp-admin without getting booted

My access to the WP-admin also times out after a little while and asks me to log back in. I have never seen it do that before.

I am trying now to do a reinstall of WP hoping it will overwrite the problem files.
🙁 I hope it doesn’t destroy all the pages I made already
