i dont think it’s mozilla … i think its your host. I’m on a fractional T1 here at work, browsing with IE6 … page never even loads, just times out.

xircom: No I’m sure it’s Mozilla. When using IE on the same computer and on my girlfriends this doesn’t happen.
Comes up fine and fast for me in Mozilla 1.8a1 and Firefox 0.8
The server must have been burping when you tried.
Looks cool here on FF. Probably just your background giving the server fits 😉
It barely registered a blip on mine, FF0.8….

Hmm.. But that’s so strange. Ok, I know now that it’s the semi-transparent PNG that slows down everything. But why tha hell only on my computer running Mozilla 1.6 and FF 0.8 and not when I’m using IE in Windows. Hmmm. I guess I could do a test with FF in Windows ;).
And oh… For the “five recent postings” question, I found this great hack!
I get the lag too. I have it on my own blog as well, it’s annoying as hell. I swear I saw a post about this a while ago (but before it started happening to me, so I didn’t notice it much) that said that this was a known issue… The weird thing is, once it’s there, it doesn’t seem to want to go away – ie. even if you remove the PNG’s and every other image on the site (I even tried unloading the style sheet altogether), it’s still there… 🙁
And unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a fix for it 🙁
But feel better – and have a nice trip to Tivoli 🙂
get a new nightly. firefox is like wp… under heavy development.

Oisin: Then I’m not crazy at all =).
Apparently wordpress.org has had a similar problem. I don’t know if it is the same problem but I have suspected there to be some bug in a .css file. If I use the original style for my blog the problem dissapears but if I for instance use one of the css styles from the alexking.org site (I am using a hacked version of the Aubergine Machine) Mozilla 1.6 and Firefox starts lagging.
it’s because of the alpha transparency. Don’t use that theme 🙂
