• I recently learned about wordpress but even though I’ve looked at a lot of forums and watched some youtube tutorials, I’m still confused. Currently, I am trying to edit an already existing website: alzerinablog.com, the directory for it is alzerinablog.com/wp-admin. Once I log in, I can’t find the option for themes and don’t know how to even begin finding it. I tried downloading both wordpress version 4.1.1 and mamp, but I’m having trouble finding the local server and phpmyadmin. I got the local server to work once before, but when I went back and used the same things, it wouldn’t load.

  • You don’t need anything installed on your local computer – everything is done via your browser in the WP Dashboard.

    Who set up this site?

Have you looked at any of these?

What are you trying to do?

It’s under appearance in the left hand side. It might not be available to you if you do not have admin user privileges.

Take a look also at WPBeginner site.

Wypogi, someone else set up the site and I tried e-mailing them with no reply. The dashboard is a bit different because it doesn’t have appearance or themes on it, I thought that was because this was an old version of wordpress (it’s currently running wordpress 3.6) and downloaded the newest version but nothing happened. I’m trying to change her logo, make the buttons at the top from red to gray, and and possible expand the big window below that, that loops pictures.

That sounds like you may not have Admin user role – what does it say under your user profile?
