Hello guys, I recently tried to edit the code in my wordpress editor.
I have a plugin called jetpack. I went to add in some codes in its tiledgallery.php.

After that, I have not been able to access my wordpress wp admin at all. Not only that, my whole website is inaccessible as well

This is the error I have been getting once I enter my website which is bestbeerfridgereviews.com

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘private’ (T_PRIVATE) in /home2/ab39029/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery.php on line 28

  • An easy way would be to login to your FTP account, and delete the jetpack plugin folder. This will automatically deactivate the plugin and your website will start working.

After that you can install a fresh copy of the jetpack plugin and make any changes you want.

    Hello, thanks for replying!
Where do I find my FTP folder? I have logged into my hostgator C Panel and selected FTP account. I click on them and I only see this

How do I delete the plugin folder?

Please download an FTP client like FileZilla and then log into it with the FTP credentials as you provided in the image. Then locate the plugins folder.

If you need help, please contact me at [redacted]

    Thanks,
    Manish

@ricktan318, You can receive FTP help from your hosting providers.

@wpyogi sure, I’ll stay away from asking people.

Hello thanks for the help, how i do i find my password? it doesnt show up in my c panel.

It only shows ftp username and ftp server

filezilla requires a password to get access to the server

I have managed to log into one of my special ftp accounts,

but they say i dont have access to it

    Status:	Retrieving directory listing...
    Command:	CWD /
Response:	550 Can't change directory to /: Permission denied
Error:	Failed to retrieve directory listing

You’ll need to ask your hosting company for help with FTP – it’s not part of WP – the access info won’t be the same as your WP site.

Oh i see, thanks for the help guys!

As you say that you can login to your cPanel, so I think you can browse File Manager and go to wp-content/plugins folder and delete jetpack folder from there. It will automatically deactivate your jetpack plugin, and then you can login to your site.
