So I thought I’d give this form plugin a go, but am actually a little confused about it. I want the submitted forms to go to a specific email per form. (Different forms on different pages.) However, I can’t seem to find where to put the email address in which each submission goes. I did try a test, and I don’t know where it went. I even checked my spam folder, and it wasn’t there. I like the way the fields can be customized and would like to use this or something like it. Please help?

  • You would need to go to the backend and for each form, there is an Email & Actions tab where you can configure where it will go.

Thanks respectyoda. I see that, but maybe I’m just not understanding it. Isn’t that just where you put the info for 1. where the email will be sent from in response to a submitted form? 2. enter a redirect page? and 3. enter a success message? The latter 2 having nothing to do with email. Just to explain, I’m not a total newb at this, just not getting it.

p.s. Feeling like a real dummy right now.

Don’t worry. That’s why I am here to help!

When you are on the Email & Actions tab, click on the “Add New” button. Then enter the action name as it can be anything that will help you remember what it will do (i.e. Email Admin). Then for the type, pick “Email” when you want to configure where the form should go to (i.e. which email address). When you select this option, you will have to put the following:

    1) From Name – can be from the field where the user puts in his/her name
    2) From Address – can be from the field where the user puts in his/her email address
    3) To – this is where you want to put your email address so you can get notifications of form submissions as an admin
    4) Subject – A description of the form so you know which form the submission is from
    5) Email Message – You can configure how the email will look like with all or some field data.

Keep in mind that you can have more than one Email & Actions for a single form. For example, you may have one action in which the form submission is sent to the admin via email, one action in which the form submission is also sent to the user, one success message (the type would be “Success Message”) in which the user will be shown a success message right after the form is submitted, and a redirect (the type is “Redirect”) if you want the user to be redirected to a different page upon submission of the form.

    Hope that helps!

Okay, I had it all backwards, this helped make it work. Thanks you so much for your help!

p.s. Still feeling like a big dummy, but at least a little more educated dummy. 🙂

Haha. You are welcome. It takes time to learn how things work. 🙂

Yep, I guess so. If I could ask one more unrelated question here instead of starting a new topic, is there a field for allowing a user to attach a file? Thought that would be standard, but maybe I’m wrong.

It is possible at this time only with the File Uploads extension. A standard file upload field is currently in the works to be added to the free Ninja Forms version.

Okay, great. I might just use the extension, but how long until the addition to the plugin is completed? Also, is that a fee of $39 per year or just a 1 time fee?

I have no idea until the addition to the plugin will be completed.

You will only pay $39 for the first year then according to the license terms, that after one year, license keys may be renewed at a 60% discount from the purchase price of a new license.

    No problem. 🙂
