• Hello everyone. I am totally new to this. I’ve got an existing wordpress account, I want to use a premium theme so I decided to sign up for a free awardspace account.

I’m sorry if this has been asked before, but I really need to know the ff:

    1. How do I connect my existing wordpress account to my free awardspace account?
    2. Could I still use my wordpress url after?

All the tutorials I saw were just about uploading themes via Filezilla straight to WordPress panel.

I’ve gotten to the part where I could connect to my host via Filezilla and dragging folders, but that’s about it. If you could give me a rough step-by-step process I’ll be forever in your debt!

    Thanks in advance.

  • What is awardspace?

Awardspace looks like a Webhost provider.

Are you wanting to transfer an existing WordPress.COM blog to a now self-hosted WordPress.ORG blog at Awardspace?

@markrh yup, but if I would do so, can I still keep my old wordpress url?

I am not sure as to how I will migrate it.

Assuming you have a URL like kimkirimkim.wordpress.com (as opposed to a domain name of your own like kimkirimkim.com), you’ll have to ask the WordPress.com support folks whether redirecting is allowed under their Terms and Conditions. Start here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/

You cannot use a subdomain.wordpress.com name anywhere else besides on WP.COM.

Also, before you sign up for any hosting, make sure it meets the minimum requirements for running WP –

BTW, free hosting is usually very problematic for running WP – not recommended.
