Changing Editing Page Slug Issue [RESOLVED] By Xikst1
-
Issue:
You made a page and named it about-me and then you deleted the page. Then you change your mind and you do this couple of times and then suddenly you see a -2 or -3 on your page slug.
You go around looking for pages with slugs called like this in the trash and there is none. You look at all category slugs and still nothing. WTH is wrong right???
The fix is so simple that you will want to cry for wasting all that time looking for the right answer.
This is what you probably did. You added an image to the page. and when you added the picture to the page called about-us you probably used a picture called about-us.jpg
If you upload a picture called about-us.jpg that will create a slug in your website like such http://www.yourwebsitename.com/about-us/
That is what is screwing you up.
The Fix. LOL it is so simple it is stupid.
Step 1) Go to your domain name http://www.yourdomain.com
Step 2) Write the slug that you want to use. In this case about-us so go to http://www.yourdomain.com/about-us/
Step3) There you will see that this slug will show you a really weird looking page or it might show you that image called about-us.jpg.
Step 4) You should be logged in as an admin, just click on that pages admin option. That will take you to the image editing page.
Step 5) Download that image and delete so you can re-upload later.
Step 6) Delete the image
Step 7) Now you can change the slug name to the one you want.
Step 8) Find the page that was using that image that you deleted and reupload using a different name or find the article first before you delete the image. Whatever it is easier for you.
I hope this helps you and that you fund this instructions right away rather than wasting time. Anyhow. Good luck to you.
